World Wind Meter

This guide shows you how to use your WindsUpp World Wind Meter, including connecting to Wi-Fi, selecting a location and charging the battery. Read the manual carefully and follow all safety instructions.

Quick Start Guide

Get Wi-Fi settings and location code
Find your location code by scanning the QR code.

Find the password of your Wi-Fi network.

Turn on your World Wind Meter
Locate the "power button" on the back above the USB charging port.
Press and hold the "power button" for 4 seconds.
A blue LED light will light up.

Search for Wi-Fi network
Open the Wi-Fi settings of your mobile phone or computer.
Search for the "WindsUpp" network.

Open the setup page
Click on the "WindsUpp" network. The setup page opens automatically.
Does not open the page. Then type 192.168.4.1 in your web browser
and press enter.

Select your location
Click on “SELECT LOCATION” in the setup page.
Enter your location code and click “SAVE”.
Your location has been set. Click “BACK”.

Save Wi-Fi settings
Click on “CONFIGURE WI-FI” and select your Wi-Fi Network.
Enter your Wi-Fi password and click “SAVE”.

The World Wind Meter restarts and is ready for use.



 

How to use World Wind Meter

Wind speed
The wind speed is displayed on the left indicator on a scale of 0 - 60 knots and on a scale of 1 - 12 Beaufort.

Wind direction
The wind direction is indicated on the right on a scale from 0 to 360 degrees. North is at 0°/360°. On the outer ring there is an indication line every 10°.

Gusts of wind

The "function button" is located on the back above the LED lights. Press this button for an indication of the wind gusts.

Live wind or wind forecast
Depending on your selected location, you will receive live wind conditions or a wind model forecast. On the online map with locations there are two different icons.

  • Locations with live wind updates have a GREEN icon.
  • Locations with wind forecasts have a BLUE icon.

Wind updates
Wind updates are location dependent and range from every 5 minutes to several times per hour. Coverage, accuracy and update intervals are constantly improving.

Charging and battery level

Battery level
Battery life per single charge is approximately 180 days. The wind speed indicator points straight down when the battery is empty. You can always check the battery level on the setup page.

Charging the World Wind Meter
Read the safety instructions before charging. Plug the charging cable into the USB charging port. Make sure the voltage does not exceed 5V. A red LED light will illuminate during charging.

Change location or Wi-Fi network
To select a different location or connect to a different Wi-Fi network, the setup page must be reopened.

  1. Press and hold the "function button" for 5 seconds and check if the blue LED light on the back stays on.
  2. Follow step 3 and step 4 of the Quick Start Guide.
  3. Change location: repeat step 5 and click “RESTART.
  4. Change Wi-Fi network: repeat step 6 and click “RESTART.

WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions could result in fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to the World Wind Meter or other property. Read all safety information at www.windsupp.com/instructions before use

  1. The World Anemometer contains electronic components that may be damaged if dropped.
  2. Do not expose the World Wind Meter to liquids or heat above 40 degrees Celcius / 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Do not open the World Wind Meter or attempt to repair it yourself. Loosening the rear screws or taking it apart may damage the World Wind Meter or cause injury.
  4. Do not charge the World Wind Meter battery out of sight.
  5. Charge the World Anemometer with the original charging cable. You can charge with third-party cables and power adapters that comply with USB 2.0 or later and applicable national regulations and international and regional safety standards. The output voltage/current of the external adapter should not exceed 5V/2A.
  6. Using damaged cables or chargers, or charging when moisture is present, may cause fire, electric shock, injury or damage.
  7. Fully charge the battery once a year to extend its lifespan. Do not store the World Wind Meter below 10 degrees
    Celsius / 50 Fahrenheit.
